As we approach the national month of Malaysia, many Malaysians have been preparing themselves to celebrate the Independence Day! With that said, a social experiment has been carried out by IOI City Mall, to see if Malaysians are patriotic.

Shopping goers seen standing up & singing along as the mall plays the national anthem, “Negaraku”

According to a video by IOI City Mall on TikTok, shopping goers were seen cruising around the mall, with some just taking a break from their walks. Idling around, the mall speakers suddenly played the national anthem, “Negaraku”. Upon hearing the anthem, some of them quickly stood up from their seat.

On the other hand, a woman was seen standing up from her seat, nudging her friend gently to stand for the national anthem. Soon enough, those who were walking around the mall also stood still, out of respect. Some children were seen singing along to it, making it such a wholesome moment to witness.

However, what caught the attention of many were the children who were skating at their ice-skating rink. Understanding that the national anthem was playing, the bunch of kids were seen standing still, even though they were in the ice rink.

It’s definitely lovely to see how patriotic and respectful we are towards our country. We hope that Malaysians would all try our best to put our differences aside and march towards a better and brighter future.
