Even during times of real trouble and hardship, children will always take care of their parents despite their young age.
One example of this are 2 siblings from Seri Kembangan, Selangor, who have not been attending school just so they can take care of their sick father.
Ustaz Ebit Lew took to his Facebook page to showcase the siblings and to help them through their challenges.
He wrote, “I cried this morning in Seri Kembangan, when I met 2 siblings, aged 12 and 10, who didn’t go to school in order to take care of their father for 2 years. He got into an accident and can no longer walk. They’re staying in a store room without electricity and water. They gather rainwater.”
Despite the lack of proper facilities, the 2 boys still manage to care for their parent as their mother is no longer in their lives.
“Their mother has not been seen since childhood. They want to find her. How heavy your challenges are, sons,” wrote Ebit Lew.
He added that he was moved to see the children cooking rice and frying eggs with soy sauce for themselves and their father.
“They eat the same thing everyday. Sometimes they won’t eat for a day as they don’t have money. Their hardships are heavy but they are always smiling as they say what is important is that they can take care of their father. They love their father very much.”
When Ustaz Ebit Lew offered to rent them a house, the children rejected the offer as they wanted to be independent and care for their father. But either way, he was still adamant in helping them.
“It’s sad that these 2 brothers are this strong. Gathering rainwater or sometimes just getting (water) from elsewhere,” he said.
“We donated a little and bought them a new mattress. We bought them some kitchen items and other necessities. We registered these kids to study. Insyallah, if their father can be a little independent, they can both start school to study,” he added.
It is truly heartbreaking to see such young children having to endure adult responsibilities and having to take care of another person. Yet, it is amazing to see how they’ve adapted to their situation and how they’re caring for their father.
We hope for brighter days ahead for the family.
