Nowadays, it’s mostly about updating contents of your social media with places you visit, food you eat, or simply your opinions on certain matters. A coffee that you purchase from the coffee shops sounds good for the Gram too!

However, in the Facebook group KL娱乐站, a Malaysian expressed her annoyance at seeing some youngsters and their need to “feed” the Gram with the coffees that they purchase, who are actually getting their daily dose of caffeine.

“Girls, especially, take pictures of their beverages with different poses instead of immediately drinking them, and post them on social media.”

She continued and said, “some even dance with their drinks and post on TikTok. Are you done?”

She then questioned the need of flaunting what they drink on social media and the necessity to impress others with the coffee they purchase.

Pity baristas who have customers like you

The emotional vent did not end there. The woman highlighted how the baristas spend years gaining coffee-making skills, only for some people to drink them at the wrong time, and made her desire clear for the people to drink coffee the right way.

“The ice has melted and the hot drinks get cold. That changes the taste of the coffee. Do you even know about coffee beans? Have you even thought about the feelings of the baristas? No, you never.”

She also said some women don’t even drink coffee as they fear their teeth may turn yellowish.

“But for the sake of showing that you’re a person of good taste, you take pictures of the coffee and return the drink to your boyfriend.”

Her post has gained the attention of fellow Malaysians and a couple of users expressed their relief in opting for cheaper beverages.

“Fortunately, I always opt for Iced Milo, ikat tepi.”

Another user said that iced Cham taste better.

Baristas weighed in

However, many Malaysians in the comment section, including baristas themselves criticised her for ridiculing the interest of others.

“I’m a barista, and I love taking pictures of my coffees.”

“Taking pictures means showing off? People do what they want. What does it have anything to do with you?”

“I’ve learned coffee-making for a few months now. Wouldn’t have caught up with my progress if not for taking pictures.”

“They’re not using your money, so it’s up to them.”

“People have their rights to do what they wish, and it’s their money. If you need to analyse every single thing in life, then that’s your problem.”

“I’m so glad to see everyone criticising you.”

“I’ll feel sorry for myself if I don’t take pictures of my coffees. It’s not easy to learn coffee-making.”

“So, do we need your opinion on how to live our lives?”
