Sometimes, when life gives you lemons, or in this case, a lack of hot water, you’ve got to press on with what you’ve got.
That’s exactly what a university student from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) did when he turned an everyday iron into an unexpected kitchen gadget.

His creative and “steamy” solution has taken TikTok by storm, proving that with a bit of ingenuity, even the most unusual methods can lead to delicious results.
The video, posted by @123abcdef.u, features a student, believed to be from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), using a hot iron to cook instant noodles in his college hostel.

In the clip, the male student pours water from a plastic cup onto a hot iron. The steam generated is then directed into a bowl of instant noodles.

The student explained that he resorted to this method due to a lack of hot water for cooking. His caption humorously reads, “Trying to save money.”
The student assured viewers that the iron used was new and rust-free, emphasising the importance of using a clean iron to avoid safety risks.

He reported that this inventive technique worked remarkably well, cooking the noodles in just 3 minutes.
The inventive approach has captured the imagination of many viewers. The comments section of the post reveals a mix of amusement and admiration.

One user commented, “This IIUM student is so creative,” while another joked, “Iron for making Maggi, not for pressing friends. Good job, kid.”
The latter comment alludes to a tragic incident from a few years ago where a university student was killed by their ‘friends’ using a steam iron, adding a layer of dark humour to the discussion.
