Showing respect to teachers is one of the fundamental lessons instilled in school. It’s a cornerstone of human decency, shaping how we treat others, especially elders and those in authority.

However, a recent incident has spark concern regarding students’ attitude, as Teacher @huzaidharis took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a photograph of an English exam paper where a student’s response left him stunned.

Only wrote “I do’no” and “F***”

The thread begins with a teacher sharing her frustration as she reveals how one of her students drew a voicemail icon instead of writing the required essay.

Another teacher then replied to the post, sharing how his student behaved even worse.

In the photo, it shows that the exam section required students to fill in the blanks with the correct simple past or past continuous tense forms of verbs.

The first paragraph of the student’s answer contained “I do’ no” (I don’t know) repeatedly in all four blanks, suggesting a lack of effort.

However, the second paragraph took a shocking turn when the student filled all four blanks with the ‘F’ word, an act of blatant disrespect.

Netizens’ reaction

The teacher’s post has since garnered nearly 380,000 views, sparking outrage and disbelief among Malaysian netizens.

“This is the product of the current system… It’s so frustrating to receive a paper from a student who just scribbled nonsense… and it’s a Bahasa Melayu question, I think… ”

“It’s so challenging to educate kids nowadays. You can’t even touch them. I don’t know if they get disciplined at home or not. Their rudeness is unbearable. The challenges faced by teachers now and in the past are so different. Makes you wonder what caused kids to become like this. Is it because of phones?”

“Wow. Back then, we were scared to even curse in front of a teacher. Now, kids boldly write it in their exam papers .”
