Your good deeds and intentions in donating to the needy greatly describe your kindness. The cash flow, at the same time, shouldn’t be ignored too.
On his Instagram post @michaelang38, Malaysian filmmaker Michael Ang recently shared his take on the culture of giving donation funds to influencers and said it should be stopped immediately at all costs. This came after the news of a pair of married influencers recently arrested for misusing public donation funds.
“Say no, especially to those who are using religion’s name in vain”
In his post, Michael urged all Malaysians to end a culture where we stop giving donation funds to influencers by not trusting anything they say, especially when it comes to the donations they set up.
“Stop trusting them, especially those who use the name of the religion, including the politicians or the TikTokers who ask for funds online after they are caught for violating the laws.”

To Michael, it’s better and wiser to prioritise family members and relatives in need of help when it comes to trust and money.
“Basically, put your family first. We’re helping people who stay in a bungalow with 5 to 6 luxury cars who use religion’s name in vain! What kind of people are they?”
According to a report by Sinar Harian, married influencers will remain remanded by SPRM after they are caught misusing the public’s donation funds.
The intention to help the needy is admirable, but always make sure your money flows to the right source.
