A short ride gone wrong

The incident happened on Oct 21, when Clifford, who was rushing to catch a train back to Malaysia, booked a Grab motorcycle ride. What was supposed to be a 5-minute trip turned into a 20-minute detour, as the elderly driver repeatedly missed turns despite having a phone with the navigation app mounted on his motorbike.

“I thought he wanted to take a short cut since he seemed to know his town well. But when I checked my map I realized that we were way off track,” he stated.

Using Google Translate, he tried to tell the driver he was in hurry, but the situation only grew more confusing.

Passenger takes control of the ride

Eventually, Clifford decided to take matters into his own hands by telling the driver to let him take over the ride.

“The driver looked quite relieved and even told me to go slow,” Clifford managed to reach the train station just in time, joking that that the hardest part was explaining the situation to his girlfriend.

From private joke to viral fame

Initially, Clifford shared that the video only with his girlfriend through WhatsApp. “She was laughing non-stop and told me to post it on Instagram.”

“At first, I uploaded it as a story, but the response was overwhelming. My girlfriend encouraged me to post it as a reel and that was the best advice ever,” he recalled.

Since then, the clip has spread across various platforms, turning Clifford’s light-hearted travel mishap into a viral hit.
