Yesterday, a Tesla owner astounded netizens by using the built-in camera on his car to successfully locate the person who stole his RM600 sneakers.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the incident occurred in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, where the car owner, Mr Lim, had placed his wet shoes behind his vehicle to dry after a two-hour running session.

Tesla caught him red-handed

He then went to change and have breakfast nearby. Unbeknownst to a passerby who decided to take the unattended blue running shoes, Tesla’s sophisticated surveillance system was at work.

Tesla vehicles are equipped with several cameras designed for monitoring, which record around the vehicle when the car’s Sentry Mode is activated.

This mode is triggered by nearby movement or when someone attempts to access the car.

Upon returning and noticing his shoes were missing, Lim reviewed the footage captured by his car’s cameras.

Confronting the thief

The video clearly showed the older man taking the shoes and even captured his vehicle’s license plate. With this evidence in hand, Lim located and confronted the thief.
