Jealousy in a relationship is expected but it can be unhealthy, especially when one is “prohibited” from talking to friends of the opposite sex. How much can you really endure before you find yourself doubting if the relationship will work in the long run?

Facebook page MY (Malaysia) recently shared an anonymous confession about a Malaysian woman who is not allowed to speak to her guy friends, and as a university student who has group assignments to complete, she finds it tough sometimes to make her partner happy.

Keep in mind that her partner does not like it even when she’s mingling around with her group of friends which consists of both men and women. Simply put, as long as there’s a man in the picture, it does not sit well with him.

“I can’t even talk about my guy friends. Sometimes I just want to share about my exciting day but once I speak about guys, the vibe changes. It really spoils the mood,” she explained.

The woman also clarified that she mostly speaks about assignments with her guy friends, and wondered if it’s still her fault for not making her partner happy. Her partner, however, has found a “solution” for this issue.

“He told me not to tell him anything about my guy friends because it irritates him.”

She realised that this is merely sweeping things under the rug, and at the time of writing, she has not figured out a real solution.

“It’s not too late to leave, girl”

Netizens, on the other hand, have many alternatives to suggest to the woman. And as you may have guessed, many said that ending the relationship is perhaps the best solution.

“Just break up. Because of him, you’re being irrationally humble. You might as well not speak to your dad too.”

“He’s not the one for you. Let him go and the next one will be better.”

“I suggest you let go as soon as possible. One day you’ll suffocate when he controls you even more.”

“I don’t know, maybe he’s traumatised by men. It’s better to run now. Don’t wait till you both get married, he might not even let you give birth to a baby boy.”

A Facebook group has also responded and said the woman should either accept him for what he is or break up to end the cycle. It also said “you can’t only have female friends. You’ll have male colleagues in the future. What if a waiter serves you at the restaurant?”

“He’s not the only man, let go.”

“It’s not too late to end this. Once you’re married to him, you’ll lose all freedom.”
