A woman recently voiced her dissatisfaction online after a fast-food restaurant manager advised her to consider to sit at a mamak stall instead of bringing homemade food to the outlet.

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, drawing a variety of opinions from the public.

Chose the restaurant because of the playground

According to Oh! Media, the woman took to social media to complain about the encounter, saying that the manager reminded her not to stay too long without placing an order and suggested she visit a mamak stall instead.

The woman explained that she had chosen the fast-food restaurant because it had a playground for children, and it was raining outside.

She said her child was eating home-cooked food she had brought along and noted that the restaurant was nearly empty at the time.

“I felt like the manager was picking on us, even though there weren’t many customers,” she wrote. “Even if it was crowded, I still have the right to sit there.”

She also expressed frustration with the manager’s suggestion, asking, “Is this how fast-food staff should behave? Telling us to go to a mamak stall?”

The woman added that another employee asked her to sit outside, which she found unacceptable. “What if my child goes missing? Would the restaurant take responsibility?” she asked.

Netizens’ reaction

The incident has sparked a lively discussion online, with some sympathizing with the woman’s situation while others defended the restaurant’s policy, emphasizing the importance of following house rules.

“Why go to the playground when it’s raining? Why not finish the food at home? Why get down there instead of just ordering Grab to your house since it’s raining?”

“If the manager hadn’t said anything, it would’ve been fine… but still, just telling people to leave like that. It’s like she’s shamelessly trying so hard to defend herself.”
