A woman has taken to social media to share an uncomfortable encounter she allegedly experienced while buying pizza at a night market in Kuala Lumpur.
In a Threads post, the woman said the incident happened after she had finished attending a course and decided to visit a night market in Pantai Dalam.
Boy allegedly asked her to “follow him home”
The woman said she was queuing to buy pizza when a group of children suddenly appeared in front of her.
She claimed most of them looked around nine or 10 years old, while one boy appeared to be around 11 or 12.
According to her, the boy then allegedly made an inappropriate remark to her in public by asking her to “follow him later”.
The woman said she felt uncomfortable and angry after hearing the comment, but chose not to say anything. Instead, she stared at the boy with a blank expression, hoping he would stop.

Allegedly continued making remarks to his friends
However, the situation allegedly did not end there.
While she was choosing her pizza, the boy reportedly turned to his friends and made more remarks loudly.
The woman claimed he said something along the lines of asking his friends whether they thought he could “get it”, before adding that it would be “nice” if he did.
The woman said she believed the boy, being slightly older than the other children, may have been trying to show off in front of them.
However, she said his words and behaviour were highly inappropriate and made her feel even more uncomfortable.
She also noted that the other children did not respond to his remarks. One of the children who was buying food even scolded him, according to her.
Woman says parents should monitor their children
The woman admitted that she was extremely angry at the time and had wanted to teach the boy a lesson.
However, she said she was too tired and decided to remain silent.
She later shared the incident online to urge parents to pay closer attention to their children’s behaviour outside the home.
She also advised parents to guide their children properly and ensure they do not mix with the wrong crowd.
Netizens divided over her response
The post has since sparked discussion among netizens.
Some felt that, as an adult and a member of society, the woman could have corrected the boy’s behaviour so that he would understand his actions were wrong.
Others said staying silent might make the boy think his behaviour was acceptable.

Some netizens also suggested what she could have said in response, with one saying she could have replied: “Why don’t you follow me to the police station instead?”
