If snakes are your biggest fear, brace yourself because what happened to a Sungai Petani resident is the stuff of nightmares.

A massive python literally fell through her bathroom ceiling, startling the entire household and sending social media into a frenzy.

Thought it was batik cloth

The shocking incident happened around 4pm last Wednesday (Nov 12), where it all began when the woman’s daughter noticed part of their bathroom ceiling cracking open.

At first, the family assumed the object sticking out was a piece of batik cloth.

But when they zoomed in using a phone camera, they were met with a terrifying sight; the thick, patterned body of a 60kg reticulated python dangling from above.

Realising the danger, the woman immediately contacted emergency services. A team from the Civil Defence Force (APM) arrived soon after and managed to safely capture the snake.

A video of the snake crashing through the ceiling, shared on Threads by @amey_deen, quickly spread across social media. Many netizens admitted they were left shaken after watching the clip.

Some imagined the worst possible scenario:

“Imagine you’re pooping and the snake is hungry and bites you from above. Horrifying.”

“How to sleep after watching this? Now overthinking all the ceiling gaps.”

“I’d be traumatised. Straight away move out, this is too big and too gross.”

Many were so stunned by its size that they joked it looked more like an anaconda than a local python.
