A 26-year-old Malaysian woman tragically lost her life after being hit by a van while crossing the road at Jalan Kuchai Maju in Kuchai Lama on Sunday (Sept 14) around 12.30pm.
The incident happened opposite Alliance Bank when the woman was crossing the road with her family nearby.
According to Kosmo, the van, driven by a 25-year-old local man, exited a T-junction before hitting the victim.
She suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The van driver was unhurt.
Driver allegedly dragged victim before stopping
The victim’s father told China Press that his daughter was hit by a Rapid KL feeder van.
He claimed the driver did not stop immediately after the impact despite bystanders shouting at him to do so, allegedly dragging his daughter’s body for more than 10 metres before halting.
The father said he will personally demand an explanation from Rapid KL after his daughter’s funeral arrangements are complete.
According to Kosmo, police confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
