What would you do if all your hard-earned savings were destroyed overnight by termites?
In a recent viral TikTok video, a woman shared how her mother’s savings were invaded by termites, causing significant damage to most of the money.
Stored for less than 2 months
The heart-wrenching footage reveals a pile of cash, ranging from RM1 to RM50, that was visibly damaged by the pests.
The woman explained in the video’s caption that the savings had been stored for no more than two months before the termites struck.
“They even know to target the bigger value one (RM50), and leave the small one alone,” she wrote, highlighting the extent of the damage.
Netizens offered help
The video has garnered widespread attention, with many viewers expressing concerns and offering advice on safer ways to store money and how to salvage the situation.
“Did you put it in the metal container from the 2 ringgit shop? Please answer because I’m worried it might happen to me too .”
Many comments suggested that the victim should be able to exchange the damaged cash at the bank.
“Take it to the national bank, show proof, fill out the form, and they will replace it, but the amount might not be the same.”
