A Malaysian woman tragically lost her life while scuba diving in the idyllic destination of Bali, Indonesia yesterday (Sept 16).
The victim was 40-year-old Siti Nuraini Rusidi, who was reportedly swept away by strong currents while scuba diving in Crystal Bay, Desa Sakti at about 11.30am local time (12.30pm Malaysia).
Was reportedly unwell
According to Indonesian media outlet BaliNews, Siti Nuraini had her first diving activity at 8am along with a dive master, a boat captain, and several other divers.
Upon arriving at the first dive site in Manta Bay, the dive master noticed that she kept coughing and asked whether she was feeling alright.
Siti Nuraini assured him that she was fine and went on to complete the dive.
Swept away
While en route to the next dive site in Crystal Bay, Siti Nuraini was again asked whether she felt fit to continue and she replied by saying she was okay.
Unfortunately, the group met strong currents and three of them, including Siti Nuraini, were swept away. She was later found dead by authorities.
News of her death didn’t reach Malaysian shores until a post about it was posted on Threads and subsequently went viral.
Siti Nuraini’s family have refused to comment on her passing so far.
