Foreign begpackers are not an uncommon sight across Southeast Asia.

Recently, a backpacker was spotted in the Bukit Bintang area seeking donations by singing, leaving local buskers unimpressed with the scene.

Taking to social media, netizen @azmi.atan4 writes, “Tourists are allowed to busk in front of this store in Bukit Bintang, while locals require permits to continue busking.”

Netizens shared the same sentiment as begpackers continue to plague tourist hotspots in the area.

“They come in as tourists, not to work, peddle or disrespect our laws.”

“If we were in their country, they would’ve detained us that very second,” said another.

One user commented, “I can’t believe how easy it is for them to travel. They don’t have to carry much cash, but find more when they arrive.”

What are your thoughts on this matter? Would you be okay with beggars asking for cash for travel? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
