The Health Ministry has introduced a new feature on the MySejahtera app that allows Malaysians to report smoking and vaping offences directly through their phones.

Called MyLapor, the feature lets users file complaints against people caught smoking in any of the country’s 28 designated non-smoking areas, including restaurants, hospitals, airports and shopping complexes.

The public can also report cases involving underage individuals caught smoking or vaping, as part of the ministry’s efforts to curb smoking-related offences and protect public health.

Although some Malaysians may have deleted MySejahtera after the COVID-19 pandemic, the app could still come in handy for reporting such violations.

How to report smoking and vaping offences through MyLapor

Here’s how to submit a complaint through the app:

  1. Open the App: Launch your MySejahtera App and log in.
  2. Find the Feature: Tap on the MyLapor icon located in the shortcuts menu on the main screen.
  3. Start the Complaint: Tap the button that says “Submit your concern here”.
  4. Select the Violation Type: Choose the specific offense you want to report (e.g., smoking in an eatery/non-smoking zone, underage smoking, or illegal product displays).
  5. Upload Evidence: Add a photo of the offender or the violation. While this is optional, it highly assists enforcement officers in tracking down the individual.
  6. Pin the Location: Enter the name and details of the specific location where the incident is happening.
  7. Submit: Review your information and click “Hantar” (Submit).

Users can also upload a photo as evidence, pin the exact location of the incident and submit their complaint through the platform.
