The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced that it is immediately installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara, just four days after Seputeh Member of Parliament (MP) Teresa Kok’s car was broken into at the park’s car park.
In a post on its Facebook page, DBKL explained that it had taken Kok’s submission regarding vehicle break-ins at the park into account, alongside her proposal to install CCTVs at the site.

The city council stated:
“Accordingly, the CCTV installation work will be carried out within a week and is expected to be completed in early March 2026. DBKL takes this incident and the concerns raised by the public seriously. The safety of city residents and park visitors remains our priority in ensuring a safe and conducive public environment.”
“DBKL remains committed to ensuring that Kuala Lumpur continues to be a safe, prosperous, and comfortable city for all.”
On 23 February, Kok’s vehicle was broken into while it was parked at the Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara car park during her morning jog.
Her handbag, which she had placed in the footwell of the front passenger seat, was stolen along with RM2,000 in cash and several ang pows.

Many users took to the comments section of DBKL’s post to point out the speed at which the authorities acted, suggesting that the response was only so swift because the victim is a person of influence.
“Quick to do the job when something happened to a rich person.”
“Getting the job done quickly. If this had happened to a regular person, they’d act as if they didn’t know anything.”
