Frog meat is edible but it’s definitely not everyone’s favorite, and not every place displays and sells the meat publicly. A supermarket in Selayang recently went viral after frog meat was spotted in between the seafood displayed.

In a viral X post by @Malaysianfoods, a couple of images show plates of frog meats being displayed and sold in the open among seafood. The post serves as a reminder for the public to be careful when purchasing seafood from the supermarket as not many people consume frog meat.

While frogs may be a delicacy to some, others who have never eaten or cannot fathom the taste it were not happy about where the frog meat were displayed.

“Be careful, you might think they’re chicken but they’re actually frog meat.”

“We’re dead. We’re becoming like China.”

Supplier’s fault

It didn’t take long for the images to get the attention of the management of the supermarket. According to the management team, it was a blunder of the supplier who sent the wrong items to the supermarket, and the staff who handled the meat wasn’t aware those were frogs.

“We have never sold and will never sell frog meat. The foreigner staff had no idea about the frog meat, and that was why the meat were displayed and sold at the seafood area.”

The frog meat were immediately taken down after 1 of the staff noticed it, and the management spoke to the supplier about the matter.

“We will make sure the incident will not repeat in the future.”

Do you think it’s okay for frog meat to be sold openly with other seafood and meat, or do you think it should be isolated?
