When it comes to street food, we all know ayam gunting is supposed to cut deep with its flavour.
But for one unlucky Malaysian, it ended up cutting deep into his trust instead.
What looked good wasn’t IRL
A TikTok user, @nikamirs, shared a video of his recent breakfast experience that quickly made waves online.
At first glance, the ayam gunting he bought looked just like any other; crispy, golden, and ready to devour. But the moment he pulled it apart, things started falling apart too. Literally.
The crispy outer layer began to peel off, revealing what can only be described as a hollow shell of lies. No juicy chicken, tiny meat, just battered expectations.
To add insult to injury, his friend wasn’t spared either. She also bought the same thing and had a full-on existential crisis while staring at her chicken-less chicken.
Her face said it all, the kind of stare you give when you realise your lunch just played you.
“Got scammed early in the morning,” he captioned plainly the video.
‘Not buying from that stall again’
Amir told WeirdKaya that he only realised how little chicken there was after taking a few bites.
“I only found out after eating that it was mostly just flour. I didn’t expect the chicken to be that small inside.” he said.
When asked if he confronted the vendor, Amir said he couldn’t be bothered to do so.
I didn’t do anything. Just that I won’t be buying from that stall again.
“ The entire incident was actually quite funny to me,” he added with a laugh.
Amir also told BuzzKini that he purchased the dish at a stall in Kelantan. However, he didn’t catch the exact price of the ayam gunting since he ordered other items as well.

Of course, Malaysians on TikTok didn’t let this moment slide without chiming in. The comments section turned into a comedy club:
