A 24-year-old marketing officer made a police report on November 23 after getting a call saying that a Public Gold ATM at a supermarket had been stolen.
From November 26 to November 30, the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Ampang Jaya arrested 3 local men, aged 17 to 41, in Kuala Lumpur and Kajang in connection with the case.

One of the suspects had 54 prior criminal records
In a statement, it was revealed that a Public Gold ATM unit had been stolen by unknown individuals. Luckily, the machine was empty, with no gold bars left, and the estimated loss was under RM60,000.
ACP Mohd Azam bin Ismail, Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, said that urine tests on the 1st and 2nd suspects came back negative for drugs, while the 3rd suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamines.
A background check showed that 2 suspects had no prior criminal records, but the 3rd suspect had 54 previous criminal records and was wanted for 3 outstanding criminal and narcotics offences.
They hired a lorry driver
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects targeted the gold ATMs at a supermarket, hired a driver and used a truck to steal the machine.
The 2 suspects have been released on police bail, while the 3rd suspect is being held in remand for 4 days, from December 1 to December 4, as approved by the Ampang Court.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building, which could lead to up to 10 years in prison, a fine, or both if convicted.
