Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen has turned down several contract offers from the Stamford Bridge club.
The left-back is one who finally agreed a long-term deal with the club after much negotiation.
The Athletic states that it was not easy for the club to find an agreement with the youngster.
At one stage, it appeared as though Maatsen would be sold to make room for other signings.
However, he has now signed a deal that is for six years, with the option of a seventh.
Maatsen will be hoping to continue with his first team breakthrough this season.
