MACC and Denmark’s Parliament Ombudsman discuss sharing expertise to strengthen governance, transparency and public sector integrity.
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has welcomed interest from Denmark’s Parliament Ombudsman to establish cooperation and share expertise.
The collaboration aims to enhance the agency’s capacity in corruption prevention and governance.
Ombudsman Christian Britten Lundblad said his team is ready to share the philosophy and experiences behind the ombudsman concept as practised worldwide.
He noted the institution in Denmark has authority to investigate corruption cases and matters related to public sector governance.
Lundblad made the remarks during a courtesy visit to MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya at the commission’s headquarters.
Denmark does not have a dedicated entity for corruption investigation and prevention.
However, its Parliament Ombudsman’s Office is a key body addressing corruption, integrity breaches and governance issues in the public sector.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Khusairi said Denmark’s strong governance mechanisms could serve as a reference for Malaysia.
He said the meeting emphasised transparency, enforcement improvements and governance reforms.
Also present were MACC senior officials and Denmark’s Ambassador to Malaysia H.E. Kristine Vangkilde Berner.
