MACC clears allegations against Afdlin Shauki surrounding RM4 million DBKL project

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has cleared actor and director Afdlin Shauki  of alleged misconduct surrounding a RM4 million Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) project.

Its Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki they reached the conclusion after reviewing documents provided by DBKL on Feb 7 regarding the implementation of its content production and radio studio project.

However, he said MACC found  weaknesses in relation to procurement guidelines hat need to be addressed.

"MACC’s Governance Investigation Division (PBT) is now evaluating DBKL’s procurement and payment procedures to ensure compliance with existing regulations," he reportedly said.

Earlier, Afdlin denied allegations of misconduct against him, which were raised by the Telegram account Edisi Siasat.

The post also claimed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, were aware of the projects that Afdlin had applied for.

This compelled DBKL’s directors to fast-track approvals.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif was reported to have confirmed that DBKL had launched an internal investigation following the allegations. – February 17, 2025
