THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has officially ended its investigation into Tan Sri Chen Wen Cheng, clearing the prominent corporate figure of further scrutiny after classifying the case as “No Further Action” (NFA).
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Ipoh Engineering, which confirmed that the anti-graft agency had informed the company through a letter dated 30 April that investigations linked to Sunway’s voluntary takeover offer had been completed.
According to the statement, the matter had been categorised as “no further action”, indicating that the commission would not proceed with prosecution or additional legal measures.
“Ipoh Engineering welcomes the successful conclusion of this matter. Throughout the investigation, the company fully cooperated with the Anti-Corruption Commission and remained committed to providing support to the authorities when necessary.”
The company said it would now move ahead with renewed focus on executing its strategic priorities and strengthening the value of its core business portfolio following the closure of the investigation.
The case drew significant public and corporate attention after Sunway announced plans in January to acquire the Ipoh projects.
Earlier this year, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed that it had been working alongside the Serious Fraud Office in investigations linked to an alleged RM2.5 billion money laundering case connected to the Ipoh projects.
The latest decision effectively removes a major cloud hanging over the takeover exercise and the companies involved, following months of scrutiny surrounding the high-profile corporate transaction. - May 16, 2026
