THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is developing a pioneering system to curb information leaks in government procurement, a move aimed at reducing violations of procurement guidelines and strengthening oversight of public projects.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the system, which secured fourth place in an international competition in Hong Kong last year, will be offered free of charge to any government agency wishing to adopt it once fully operational.
“The system currently under development secured fourth place in a competition held in Hong Kong last year.
“This system will be provided free of charge to any government agency interested in adopting it once it has been fully developed,” Bernam cited him saying during the signing of a renewed Note of Cooperation between MACC and the Public Works Ministry (KKR) at the MACC headquarters yesterday.
Azam emphasised that the cooperation, spearheaded by MACC’s Special Operations Division, demonstrates the agencies’ commitment to enhancing governance, preventing corruption, and combating abuse of power in a strategic and integrated manner.
“The MACC remains committed to being a strategic partner to ministries and government agencies in ensuring that every national development project is implemented with full integrity, transparency, and accountability,” he added.
KKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Azman Ibrahim said the partnership will help the ministry address corruption and governance issues, preventing government losses evident in past cases.
He expressed hope that the renewed Note of Cooperation would reinforce bilateral collaboration and support the Keep Malaysia Clean agenda, promoting a corruption-free nation rooted in integrity.
The collaboration between MACC and KKR, which began in 2013 and was strengthened with a Note of Cooperation in 2022, focuses this year on operational enhancements, anti-corruption education, expertise sharing, and the placement of senior KKR officers to boost capacity and cross-agency expertise.
