KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is considering appointing foreign forensic experts to assist in its investigation into the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the investigation involves complex matters related to investments, agreements and contracts, requiring detailed forensic analysis, Bernama reported.

He said the review would also cover meeting minutes and various documents linked to investment decisions, Bernama reported.

“There are a large number of documents involved in this investigation that need to be reviewed and scrutinised. This requires specialised examination as well as expertise.

“Discussions on the appointment of forensic experts are also subject to the costs involved. The forensic experts will also work together with our specialist officers,” he told a press conference here today.

Abd Halim said MACC had so far opened 14 investigation papers and carried out several enforcement actions, including arrests, remand applications and seizures.

He added that the investigations had involved inspections and searches at 28 premises.

“A total of 115 witnesses have been called in for interviews and had their statements recorded at the MACC office, while seven suspects have been detained, five of whom were remanded,” he said. - August 13, 2026
