Some officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) may not get promoted next year.
Officers who do not meet the body mass index (BMI) will not be considered for promotion starting January 2026.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said that his department has given all its staff six months to achieve their ideal weight. According to him, there will be no promotions for MACC members and officers who exceed a BMI of 27 starting January next year.

“The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has implemented BMI 26 directives. So, we are implementing them at MACC because we are an important department in the government.”
Azam also said it is implemented to prevent obesity and overweight problems among MACC officers.
Apart from that, each division, whether headquarters or state, will now have to conduct health checks every three months at government hospitals.
Azam added that weight problems will lead to many diseases and that obesity in the civil service should not exist and has to be prevented.

Azam revealed the matter at the press conference yesterday (July 3) during the retirement ceremony of the Kelantan MACC Director, Rosli Husain, which MACC also shared his statement on Facebook.
