PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has interviewed several witnesses as part of its investigation into an NGO collecting donations for Palestinians.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said a probe into the NGO was initiated following questions that were raised over how the organisation had spent the funds it received, mostly through public donations, Bernama reported.
Those who have been called in for questioning so far include the individuals responsible for the NGO’s expenses and those involved in auditing its accounts.
“We may need to carry out a forensic audit of their financial statements because we need to look at the flow of funds (donations), how it was spent, and how much of it was actually used for the welfare of Palestinians,” he told reporters after an event in Kuala Lumpur.
