KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is examining information related to the implementation of the oil palm development and replanting programme at Felda Palong 7 in Wilayah Raja Alias, Bandar Sri Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, including concerns over the quality of the seedlings supplied and their compliance with the required specifications.
In a statement, MACC said the information was received from Pertubuhan Badan Bertindak Generasi Palong (Perbagi) chairman Mohd Syahrizal Md Yusuf, who raised concerns over the quality of the oil palm seedlings and the implementation of the programme.
The commission said the matters raised included the supply, delivery, storage and age of the oil palm seedlings, as well as whether they complied with the required specifications.
“MACC has taken note of the allegations and concerns raised and will examine the information to determine whether they involve any offences under its jurisdiction,” the statement said.
MACC said it also took note of the request for the relevant technical agency to conduct an inspection of the seedlings, particularly in terms of their quality and compliance with the stipulated specifications.
“Any further action will be determined based on the findings of the investigation and information obtained,” the statement said.
The oil palm replanting programme is reported to benefit about 450 settlers in the area.
MACC stressed that receiving the information did not mean that any party had committed an offence and should not be regarded as a conclusion against any individual or party involved.
Media previously reported that a group of new-generation Felda Palong 7 settlers had urged MACC to investigate the implementation of the oil palm development and replanting programme, which involves an estimated RM70 million to RM80 million. — Bernama
