PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has conducted raids on the offices of Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) and Kuala Lumpur City FC in its probe against KLFA.

A source said the raids were carried out after the MACC received a report on an alleged breach of trust involving sponsored funds for KL City and a piece of land linked to the KLFA academy in Desa Melawati.

The anti-graft agency is expected to call up several witnesses to assist with investigations into alleged criminal breach of trust (CBT) and abuse of power involving KLFA.

“Documents obtained from the KLFA office last week have been sent to the forensic department for analysis and the MACC will study whether the process of using the sponsored funds abides by the law.

“The biggest sponsorship is from the KL mayor, followed by several companies in the city. However, investigations are at a preliminary stage,” the source said.

When contacted, MACC (investigation division) senior director Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed that a probe into KLFA was ongoing under Section 18 of the MACC Act.
