
TAWAU: Ten detainees in connection with an alleged illegal immigrants trafficking ring were released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) but nine of them were later rearrested by police here today.
Tawau police confirmed four men and five women were rearrested at Wisma Persekutuan under anti-human trafficking and security laws.
Earlier, the MACC released, on a post-remand bond, the 10 suspects consisting of six Immigration officials and four civilians, believed to have been agents of the syndicate, by a Magistrate's order.
