MACC will probe bribery allegations involving businessman Albert Tei and former PM’s senior political secretary, with both to be questioned

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will immediately investigate bribery allegations involving businessman Albert Tei and former Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed investigators will soon call both Tei and Shamsul Iskandar to record their statements.

He said all other relevant parties will also be called to assist in gathering evidence.

“The public is advised not to speculate on this matter and to allow MACC the space to conduct its investigation and collect all necessary information related to the allegations,” Azam stated.

Shamsul Iskandar announced his resignation yesterday amid the controversy.

The issue emerged after former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli urged the Prime Minister to take action regarding a letter of support issued by one of his political secretaries.

Rafizi had specifically called for a possible MACC investigation into the matter. – Bernama
