KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will recall eight Sabah state assemblymen and whistleblower Albert Tei for further questioning and to submit documents related to the ongoing mineral exploration licence corruption probe.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki (pic) said they are serious about verifying the contents of 10 video recordings allegedly linked to the case, which will be replayed to the individuals involved during interviews.
He confirmed that forensic analysis is underway to authenticate the videos and ensure the evidence is untampered, stressing the need for clarity on whether the funds shown were bribes or political donations.
Azam also assured that there has been no interference from the Sabah State Government in the investigation, and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s statement has already been recorded twice.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be recalled within two weeks to provide documents related to his case, following the seizure of RM177 million in cash and gold bars linked to a money laundering investigation.
