Bukit Aman, the headquarters of the Royal Malaysia Police, has received a verbal request for assistance in the application for an Interpol Red Notice for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law and a lawyer, according to the Inspector-General of Police.
Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that he had received the request verbally and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The police will work together with the MACC based on the information provided. The request for the Interpol Red Notice was announced by the MACC chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, who stated that the graft busters were planning to apply for the notice with the assistance of the police.
The MACC is seeking the assistance of Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan and lawyer Mansoor Saat in an investigation into a ministry project involving the biometric data of foreign workers. The MACC previously issued a statement stating that both men had left the country and had not returned.
Despite attempts to contact them and their lawyers, they had failed to present themselves at the MACC office. In addition to this case, the IGP also stated that Bukit Aman would further investigate over 90 reports of misuse of MyKad during polling day for the state elections. Most of these cases involved fraudulent MyKad, with voters discovering that someone else had used their identification card to vote.
The investigation is still ongoing, but initial findings suggest that fake MyKad was used in most of the cases. On polling day, a total of 181 reports were received by the police, with the majority of them related to the misuse of MyKad. Selangor had the highest number of reported cases, followed by Penang, Terengganu, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, and Kelantan. Using other people's MyKad when casting votes is an offense under the Election Offences Act. The police are taking these reports seriously and will continue to investigate the matter further.
