Former minister M. Saravanan, his wife and two children will receive MACC asset declaration notices, while another child will be served in November.
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will serve asset declaration notices on former Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, his wife and two of their children on Monday.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the notices would be issued under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009.
He said the family had been informed and would attend the MACC headquarters to receive the notices.
“The notices are issued under Section 36 of the AMLA, and they will be given 30 days to declare their assets.
“If they require more time, an extension may be granted,” he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the 5th National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Research Conference 2026 here today.
Abd Halim said the notices were part of the commission’s standard procedure, with recipients given one month to declare their assets after being served.
“They have received the information and will be present. But this Monday, he, his wife and two of his children will be there.
“The notice for the other child will be served in November because the child is still studying in London. We are giving sufficient time for the child to return,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abd Halim said the MACC had yet to receive an asset declaration from former Lembaga Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Azeez Abdul Rahim and his family members as they were still within the one-month period.
He said the notices requiring them to declare their assets were issued under Section 49 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA).
“We only served the notice on Sept 15, so the one-month period has not ended yet. We will wait for the full month,” he said.
