American rapper Macklemore has minted a considerable reputation for himself within the music industry, especially for those who were well accustomed to his most popular singles from the late 2010s. If you consider yourself a fan, then perk your ears; he is expected to perform in Malaysia come this November, thanks to Petronas!

Best remembered for his 2012 track Thrift Shop, which was recorded in collaboration with producer Ryan Lewis, the 41-year-old will be headlining Phase 1 of the After Race Fest that is expected to be staged at the helipad of Sepang International Circuit. The music festival will begin at 4pm on November 3rd, 2024 after the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia wraps up.

He will also be joined by Californian rock band Smash Mouth, whose song All Star became a chart topping hit during its debut in 1999 before gaining a second lease of life when it was subsequently featured in the 2001 animated blockbuster, ShrekShrek. The Phase 1 lineup will be further supported by local acts including 6ixth Sense, Nidji, Defam, and Feel Koplo.

If you’re hoping to catch Macklemore live in Malaysia for this year’s After Race Fest, you are first required to purchase a ticket for the Grand Prix itself. This will entitle you to an accompanying pass for the post-race festivities.

Thankfully, prices are definitely on the wallet-friendly side, starting from RM49.90 at the K2 Hillstand vantage for Malaysian citizens. As for those looking to truly indulge in a luxe experience, you can even opt to stay in the Club Suite adjacent to the race circuit for RM3,132. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Sepang International Circuit website through here.

This will mark Macklemore’s first time performing in Malaysia, with his popularity among local music enthusiasts reaching critical mass when he came out publicly in support for Gaza residents facing bombardment from Israeli military forces.

In fact, local radio station Fly FM had previously petitioned for entertainment organises to extend an invitation for Macklemore to take the stage in Malaysia by playing his song, Hind’s Hall, which was written in tribute to Gaza, for 24 hours.
