The Madani administration has reportedly introduced more than 30 legal amendments and reinstated the Parliamentary Services Act 2025 since taking office in 2023, according to Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Law and Institutional Reform. These developments were cited as concrete evidence that the government's reform agenda is not mere political rhetoric but a systematic effort being actively carried out.

Azalina highlighted that institutional change requires more than swift action or performative gestures. She supported Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent statement, emphasizing that genuine reform is a structured and deliberate process. She noted that any policy shift must be realistic, achievable, and centered on the long-term welfare of the people, rather than being driven by the need for quick wins.

In her view, these reforms must be built on solid foundations to prevent them from faltering early in their implementation—a point she stressed by referencing a Malay idiom that warns against rushing into action only to encounter failure.

The minister asserted that the Madani government's approach to institutional and legal reform surpasses efforts made by prior administrations. She encouraged the public to assess these initiatives for themselves by referring to the visible outcomes and legislative changes already in place.

Among the most significant milestones mentioned was the reintroduction of the Parliamentary Services Act, which is seen as a step toward strengthening the independence and operational structure of Parliament. Other amendments, though not detailed individually, are said to span various aspects of governance and legal frameworks.

To enhance transparency and public engagement, Azalina pointed to the PetaRI portal, a dedicated platform developed by the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department. This online resource provides regular updates on reform progress and allows citizens to track the implementation status of key initiatives.

By making reform efforts publicly accessible and quantifiable, the government aims to reinforce accountability while encouraging public participation in the democratic process. Azalina concluded that while the reform journey is ongoing, the steps already taken reflect a strong commitment to transforming Malaysia’s legal and institutional landscape in a meaningful and lasting way.
