KOTA KINABALU: Law and Institutional Reform Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the Justice on Wheels (JoW) initiative reflects the Madani Government’s commitment to ensuring equal access to justice, particularly for rural and remote communities.
Officiating the programme in Putatan, she explained that the mobile legal clinic uses specially modified vans to provide free legal services under JBG’s motto “Yang jauh didekati, Yang dekat disantuni.”The initiative educates the public on their rights and provides advice so no one is left behind.
Azalina highlighted the new Legal Aid and Public Defender Bill 2025, which expands coverage to criminal, civil, and syariah cases, mediation, digital access, and automatic legal assistance for children.
Six JoW programmes have been held in Sabah, with more nationwide under Budget 2023. She also urged wider use of alternative dispute resolution to reduce court backlogs and noted emerging AI-related legal challenges.
