A MAGNITUDE-6.0 earthquake struck near the eastern coastline of Honshu, Japan, on Wednesday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), as reported by Xinhua.

GFZ said the tremor occurred at 14:52:25 GMT, with its epicentre located at a depth of 48.7 kilometres.

The initial coordinates placed the quake at 40.87 degrees north latitude and 142.76 degrees east longitude.

No further details on damage or casualties were immediately available. Authorities in the region are monitoring for aftershocks. - December 11, 2025
