In a recent statement, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, decrying what he termed the "genocide war" by Israel against the Palestinian people. The situation has escalated to a point where the horrors faced by the residents of Gaza are beyond description.

Mohamad alleges that Israel's actions are a response to an attack by Hamas on October 7th, in which it is claimed that 1400 Israelis were killed. However, he points out that the root cause of the conflict lies in the decades-long oppression of Palestinians by Israel. He accuses Israel of stealing Palestinian land, expanding into their territories, building settlements, and subjecting Palestinians to various forms of mistreatment.

Despite Palestinians accepting the existence of Israel, Mohamad argues that the oppression continued, leading to the current violent situation. He suggests that Hamas' resort to violence is not unexpected given the circumstances of prolonged occupation and mistreatment.

The former prime minister criticizes the scale of Israel's response, stating that the punishment inflicted on Palestinians far exceeds the damage caused by Hamas. According to Mohamad, 18,000 Gazans have already lost their lives, with a disproportionate number being women and children. The destruction of the city, including hospitals and schools, has left the population without essential services like electricity, water, and food.

Mohamad highlights the global call for a ceasefire, except from the United States, which, he claims, supports Israel's actions. He accuses the U.S. of championing human rights and freedom from oppression while condoning what he describes as the "mass murder" of Palestinians.

In a controversial comparison, Mohamad suggests that Israel's approach echoes the Nazi's "final solution" but in this case, it aims to eliminate Palestinians. He argues that eliminating Hamas alone will not bring peace to Israel, as the Palestinian resistance will persist.

Closing his statement, Mohamad criticizes the U.S. veto against a ceasefire, drawing attention to America's own history of founding on the genocide of Native Americans. The former Malaysian leader concludes that as long as the U.S. continues to prepare for wars and seek hegemony, global conflicts will persist.

This statement adds to the international discourse on the Israel-Palestine conflict, bringing attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and condemning the actions of both parties involved.
