KUALA LUMPUR: In a sad goodbye to active participation in Malaysian politics, former prime minister and Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pix) said he hoped those who won the 15th general election (GE15) will form the government.

“I hope those who won will form the government. However, since Pejuang (Parti Pejuang Tanahair) lost in all 125 seats we contested (in the 15th general election), we cannot even play a role as an effective opposition in parliament,“ he said on his Facebook page yesterday.

Mahathir said as Pejuang chairman, he was sad over the party’s performance in GE15 but accepted the people’s choice. Hence, he said all of Pejuang’s plans for the nation had to be dissolved.

However, Mahathir said what the party could do moving forward was to watch the direction that will be taken by the winning party (that forms the new government).

“Pejuang also prays that whichever party forms the government will be able to resolve all the problems that will be faced by the nation.

“I will concentrate on my writings concerning the history and current events in the country,“ he said.

Mahathir said many incidents in the country had not yet been recorded, including those involving the British occupation.

And in an invitation to journalists, he said he was also open to being interviewed by them.
