One of the three distinguished panelists at the Student Dialogue organized by MyAeroSatu is an experienced Aircraft Engineer Sitham Nadarajah, who clearly explained that “MRO covers routine line maintenance, base maintenance, and engine overhauls. It maximizes reliability, prevents costly operational disruptions, extends aircraft lifespan, and maintains uncompromised safety standards and regulatory compliance. MRO processes ensure aircraft comply with strict Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) regulations, keeping all type of planes airworthy & reducing risks of accidents.” (www.caam.gov.my)

Sitham, is the former Deputy Director of Engineering, with oversight for aircraft engine & component overhaul for Malaysia Airlines (MAS). He has also collaborated with the Malaysian Industry Group High Technology (MIGHT), National Aerospace Industry Corporation (NAICO) Malaysia, and spearheaded several MRO joint venture projects in Malaysia. Post-MAS, he joined the Australian Aviation Consulting Group to turnaround troubled airlines. Following which, he engaged by Jet Airways India and contributed to its engineering operations for business excellence as the largest private international airline.
During Student Dialogue, Sitham was asked “What are the key success factors of your best 6 decades of experience in the aviation engineering?" He candidly responded, “First of all, you must be competence in your job and understand the business of your company. You are hired for your operational, technical & people skills. Engineers must do crisis management before the crisis. Firefighters do it during the crisis. True leaders fix the roof before it rains. I believed a litmus test of leadership is your ability to unite all functions under your watch & then inspire and lead the united manpower to real greatness.”

In addressing the challenges, Sitham said, “Malaysia has a strong aerospace foundation that must be enhanced and strengthened to capture commercial and technological opportunities. We must ensure that there is a steady supply of technically qualified & knowledgeable workforce to face the growth. As such, the syllabuses at Universities and Colleges must be tailored to meet the requirements of industry by preparing graduates who are results oriented.”
