Mais gives RM598,600 in aid for Kedah’s Pantai Timur flood victims

SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has donated RM598,600 to lighten the burden of flood victims in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.

Mais chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the funding comprises allocations from agencies including the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) and Darul Ehsan Islamic Foundation (Yide).

“The funds will be channelled to the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council, Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council, and Kedah Islamic Religious Council.

“We will also contribute food baskets with essential items to flood victims,” he told reporters after flagging off a flood aid mission convoy to Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah at the Sultan Idris Shah Building here today.

The convoy includes 100 volunteers who will help clean graveyards and main roads around Kampung Mat Kajang Sebidang in Tumpat, Kelantan.

Aziz said Mais, along with its subsidiaries, contributed RM280,000 in January to help flood victims in Kelantan and Terengganu.

“Mais has also helped victims in Selangor by giving RM466,800 through funding from LZS, Yide, and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council throughout the year,” he added.
