Residents of Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) Sector 23 in Bhiwani town are set to get relief from damaged roads, with the Municipal Council, Bhiwani (MCB), initiating the reconstruction work at an approximate cost of Rs 2.5 crore.

Bhiwani Deputy Commissioner Sahil Gupta said tenders had been floated for the reconstruction of the damaged stretches. Besides, the main stretches, including the road from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chowk to the railway crossing on Tigadana Road and the Gujrani Road upto the HSVP boundary, will also be rebuilt soon, he said.

The residents have been demanding repair and reconstruction of the roads which have been in poor condition for a long time. The approach road leading into the sector from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose green belt has become unsafe for motorists.

Two-wheeler riders frequently lose balance on the damaged surface, causing inconvenience and safety concerns for the residents. The condition of the roads has often drawn criticism, with the locals pointing out that the sector, considered one of the posh residential areas, appeared worse than many unapproved colonies.

The residents had repeatedly raised the issue before the district administration. While one of the main roads passing through the sector was reconstructed earlier by the Municipal Council, many internal roads continued to remain damaged. Even light rainfall resulted in waterlogging, creating hardships for the commuters and residents alike.

Taking serious note of the grievances, Sahil Gupta directed the Municipal Council to undertake a comprehensive survey of all damaged roads in Sector 23 and prepare detailed estimates for their reconstruction.

The DC said the road reconstruction works in Sector 23 would involve an expenditure of around Rs 2.5 crore and that the tenders had already been issued. He reiterated that the administration was committed to addressing civic issues related to roads, water supply, sewerage and electricity on a priority basis.

Residents Welfare Association (RWA) official Mahender Singh Sheoran expressed satisfaction over the action taken by the Deputy Commissioner for the repair and reconstruction of the roads. He said the residents had been facing difficulties due to the poor condition of the roads and appreciated the district administration and Municipal Council for addressing their concerns.
