Malaysians, it’s time to unite. Time to embrace a vision. Time to take a leaf from America’s playbook and proudly declare: Make Anwar Great Again!

After all, why should Trump have all the fun with his MAGA movement when we have our very own comeback king, Anwar Ibrahim?

If Zahid can shamelessly borrow Trump’s playbook and call himself the mastermind of Dr. Mahathir’s downfall (despite, let’s be honest, being a supporting character at best), why can’t we borrow a little American branding to prop up Anwar? https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/zahid-claims-mastermind-role-behind-move-to-oust-mahathir-as-pm

Anwar 1.0: The Hero We Believed In

There was a time when Anwar was the guy. The 1990s Reformasi movement saw him as the youthful, charismatic, justice-seeking hero—a rock star of Malaysian politics. Students adored him, the rakyat cheered for him, and Mahathir feared him (enough to lock him up).

But fast forward a couple of decades, and now that Anwar is finally in the driver’s seat, the enthusiasm seems to have… well, let’s just say it’s gone the way of Malaysia’s Road to Gold Olympic ambitions—big talk, underwhelming results, and a whole lot of blame-shifting.

Anwar 2.0: The Comeback King

Anwar has been to jail. He’s been humiliated, beaten, and politically buried more times than a poorly funded opposition leader. And yet—like a true Malaysian street vendor finding new ways to dodge DBKL enforcement—he has always found a way back.

This is the stuff of legends! A leader of resilience, a man who has seen the worst of politics and yet still believes in hope. And yet, Malaysians seem to be in a state of perpetual dissatisfaction.

Where is the love for Anwar?

We should be grateful! Look at the alternatives. Zahid Hamidi? A man whose political survival depends on having a conveniently foggy memory in court. Muhyiddin? A PM who made headlines for being the shortest-serving in history. Ismail Sabri is at home in bed while MACC waits for day to chat over money found at a condiminium..

Why MAGA Works for Malaysia

So why not Make Anwar Great Again? He was once the great hope. He had the charisma, the flair, and the Reformasi spirit. We just need to bring that energy back!

• Hope for GE16 – Anwar needs a strong slogan to rally the people for the next election. “Madani” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue like a catchy political chant. But MAGA? That’s a movement!

• Better Branding – If Anwar can’t fix the economy overnight, at least he can fix his branding. A little marketing magic never hurt.

• Nostalgia is Power – Malaysians love reminiscing about the past, whether it’s about old-school kopitiams or the days when petrol was RM1.50. Why not rebrand Anwar as the legend of old, the leader who once gave Mahathir a headache?

The Nation’s Call

So let’s do it, Malaysians! Let’s revive the hope, the dreams, the Reformasi spirit! If we’re going to be led by Anwar, let’s at least make it entertaining.

We’ll chant MAGA! MAGA! at ceramahs, print baseball caps with his face, and flood social media with AI-generated images of Anwar looking heroic on a white horse.

If we can’t have actual reforms, at least we can have theatrics.

So, Make Anwar Great Again! Because if we’re stuck with him, we might as well believe in the magic. Even if it’s just for the fun of it. Or something to think about during Hari Raya holidays.
