Making false Socso claims: Five charged

Kota Kinabalu: Four company owners and a marketing executive were charged separately at the Sessions Court here on Thursday for allegedly submitting false documents related to incentive claims under the Social Security Organisation (Socso) Daya Kerjaya 2.0 Programme.

The five accused — Pausia Abu, 49; Arzeanti Jafar, 40; Nur Farhanah Jamil, 38; Mohd Azhar Ramali, 39; and marketing executive Foo Fong Kent, 31 — pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Andi Razalijaya A. Dadi.

They were accused of submitting Daya Kerjaya 2.0 Employee Verification Forms containing false information to a Socso agent as part of incentive claim applications under the programme.

The charges stated that they allegedly knew or had reason to believe that the documents contained false material particulars intended to mislead the principal.

Foo allegedly committed the offences between May 30 and Oct 9, 2024, at Infinity Profit Enterprise in Warisan Square, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens.

Pausia, the owner of Hajah Yanong Enterprise, was charged with committing the offences on March 15 and 18, 2024, at Kilang SME Bank, Jalan Papar.

Mohd Azhar, owner of Cyber Vision Enterprise, allegedly committed the offences on June 7 and Aug 14, 2024, at premises in Alamesra Plaza Utama, Jalan UMS.

Arzeanti, owner of Tasek Emas Enterprise, was accused of committing the offence on Aug 6, 2024, at Desa Sri Taman Laya-Laya, Tuaran, while Nur Farhanah, owner of Afijay Bersatu, was charged over an offence allegedly committed on Aug 19, 2024, at Jalan Tuaran By-Pass, Manggatal.

The five were charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, punishable under Section 24(2) of the same Act, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine upon conviction.

The court fixed Sept 14 for case management and granted bail to all accused with two local sureties.

Foo was granted bail of RM10,000 with RM7,000 deposited, while Pausia and Mohd Azhar were each granted bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited.

The court also ordered the accused to report to the nearest MACC office once a month, surrender their international passports, if any, and refrain from tampering with prosecution witnesses.

MACC prosecuting officer Norsham Baharom appeared for the prosecution. Foo was represented by counsel Lim Chun Yuan, while Pausia, Arzeanti and Mohd Azhar were represented by counsel Sylyester Kuan. Nur Farhanah was unrepresented.
