Maktab Nasional obtains 100pc SPM passes

Kota Kinabalu:Maktab Nasional obtained a 100 per cent passing rate for the 2022 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, significantly improving the school average grade to 2.6 compared to 2.98 in 2021.

Subjects with 100 per cent passing rate include Bahasa Melayu, English, History, Mathematics, Science, Additional Maths, Principle of Accounting, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Science Computer and Geography.

According to the school, 12.1 per cent of candidates scored 9As, 15.2 per cent obtained 8As, 6.1 per cent scored 7As while 6.1 per cent obtained 6As.

“Another 6.1 per cent scored 5As, 9.1 per cent obtained 4As, 12.1 per cent obtained 3As, 9.1 per cent obtained 2As while 21.2 per cent obtained 1A.

“A total of 97.1 per cent of the cohort achieved a grade of at least 1A,” the school said in a statement.

Joyanne Poong Qi Yue was the Top 2022 SPM Achiever by scoring 8A+ in all subjects.

Other Top Achievers who scored a combination of A+, A and A- were Chong Jin (9As), Janice Lo See Ting (9As), Janice Lu Jia Ni (9As), Humairaa Binti Andy Alfian (9As), Michelle Liew Ye Shu (8As), Brandon Chong Kian Bing (8As), Ashwaree Cheyenne Liaw (8As), Darenno Toumin (8As) and Mike Tyson Jimmycarter (7As).

The other students who obtained 5As and above were Elaine Stephanie Elvin (7As), Rohmatus Saniyah (6As), Melissa Mohd. Ghazali (6As), Rania Zyneera Binti Roslie (5As), and Aaron Tony Chong (5As).

All the students received their certificates during the awards ceremony from the guest of honour Archbishop Datuk John Wong, who is also Maktab Nasional Board of Trustee Chairman.

The esteemed Maktab Nasional Platinum Academic Awards were presented to Joyanne Poong Qi Yue and Chong Jin.

Meanwhile, John congratulated the SPM Class of 2022 who achieved astonishing results despite going through challenging learning environments in the Covid-19 pandemic.

He expressed his gratitude to parents for their unabated trust in Maktab Nasional and also to Principal Madam Marie Yong Pik Hua, teachers and staff for the praiseworthy dedication and hard work.
