Malacañang says anti-China caskets not helpful to country

MANILA, Philippines — After caskets with anti-China messages were found in several parts of Metro Manila on Friday, Malacañang said such actions “do not help the country.”

In a video message on Saturday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said that the police were launching a full investigation into the unusual incidents, which have raised public alarm.

“To those engaging in such activities: you are not being prevented from exercising your freedom of expression. However, these actions do not help our country," Castro said in Filipino, stressing that stunt-like displays disrupt peace rather than resolve issues between the two countries.
