A Malaysia Airlines flight has been forced to land in Sydney after a disruptive passenger caused panic and chaos on board.

Footage captured on board the flight shows the man appearing to call himself “a slave of Allah”, before he is seen to challenge other passengers to repeat they are also “slaves of Allah”.

At one point, he becomes rather irate, pointing his finger at passengers at shouting: “Say it!”

Further footage shows the man being confronted by an air steward.

Australian Federal Police confirmed the plane left Sydney at 1.40pm but landed back at the airport at 3.47pm on Monday.
